Discovering Bayswater
Bayswater is a charming suburb situated on the Devonport Peninsula on the North Shore of Auckland, with great views of the Harbour Bridge and Downtown Auckland. At the west end of the suburb, a marina and O'Neills Point provide a peaceful retreat for those looking to escape the city's hustle and bustle.
Main Attractions in Bayswater
The marina provides stunning views to the west, particularly breathtaking during the golden hour at sunset. Adjacent to the marina, a modest clifftop park provides a tranquil setting for picnics and leisurely walks. The historic Bayswater Boatclub building, though somewhat dilapidated, adds character to the area and is a point of interest. Recent legal changes may soon allow for its much-needed renovation.
For those keen on exercise, a walkway connects Bayswater to Devonport. While the path only runs through suburban streets, it is a good option for increasing your step count.
How to Get to Bayswater
Reaching Bayswater from Downtown Auckland is straightforward via ferry. The service runs every half-hour during peak times and hourly during off-peak periods. To get there by road, take Lake Road from Takapuna. At Baywater Avenue, turn west and drive to the end, with parking by the park.
