Exploring Castor Bay

Castor Bay, located on the North Shore of Auckland, is a small yet inviting beach that forms part of the North Shore Coastal Walk, also a section of Te Araroa. This beach is ideal for swimming and a peaceful retreat with its safe waters. Adjacent to the beach, you'll find a small grassed reserve, perfect for a relaxing picnic or a leisurely stroll.

At the northern end of Castor Bay lies Rahopara Point, a site of historical significance as it was once a pā. Adjacent to the point is Kennedy Park, also a historic fort of a more modern kind.

At the southern end is Wairau Creek and Milford Beach.

Nearby Amenities

For those looking to enjoy a meal or a coffee, the nearest café is located near the corner of Beach Rd and Castor Bay Rd to the north. This makes it easy to grab a refreshment after a day at the beach or a walk along the coastal path.

Accessing Castor Bay

You can reach Castor Bay beach via the coastal path from either direction or directly from Beach Rd. If you're walking from Milford Beach to the south, you can wade across Wairau Creek at low tide, as an alternative to the marina bridge and clifftop walk.
