Discover the Scenic Beacon Point Track

Located in Wānaka, the Beacon Point Track is a picturesque journey along the edge of Lake Wānaka. This track is perfect for both walking and cycling, with superb views of the surrounding mountains and the lake. The route is not only a visual delight but also a part of Te Araroa.

Walking the Track

Begin the walk from the lakeside playground in central Wānaka, where you can follow the footpath that follows the lake edge to the marina. As you head north past the marina and yacht club at the southeast end of Roys Bay, you'll find a dedicated lakeside track that takes you to the large reserve at Eely Point and Bremner Bay. This section is easy and flat on a packed gravel surface, with excellent views of the Roys Bay, Roys Peak and Mt Alpha.

Eely Point, Bremner Bay and Beacon Point

This area is a favourite among locals and boaters due to its easy lake access. Just north of Eely Point lies Bremner Bay, with a sandy beach and grassy reserve.

After this, the track continues along the lake to another beach at Beacon Point. Although this part of the walk has a suburban setting, the houses are attractive and interesting, enhancing the experience.

From Beacon Point, you connect with the Lake Outlet Track, which is also a section of Te Araroa, and takes you along the south side of the Clutha River to Albert Town.
