Exploring Breaker Bay and Point Dorset

Located north of Gibraltar Bay in Wellington, Breaker Bay is a striking destination known for its natural beauty and unique features. The drive along the coastal road offers views of several small, rocky bays and the harbour entrance, leading to the dramatic landscapes of Breaker Bay and the steep cliffs of Point Dorset.

Discovering the Beach and Natural Arch

Upon reaching Breaker Bay, you'll find a parking area on the roadside just before the road ascends over Point Dorset. From here, a track leads down to the beach. The beach itself is a mix of sand and small stones, providing ample space to relax. A notable feature is the natural arch above the tide line, which enhances the bay's scenic appeal. If you plan to swim, exercise caution as the beach is unpatrolled.

Nudist-Friendly Area

Breaker Bay is known for its popularity with nudists. As you walk further around the bay towards the end of Point Dorset, you are more likely to encounter them, so be prepared for this aspect of the beach's culture.

How to Get There
