Located at the southern end of Muriwai Beach, the Muriwai Walkway offers a short yet rewarding experience. This walk provides stunning views of the gannet colony and the surrounding beaches, making it a must-visit for nature enthusiasts.

What to See Along the Walkway

The walkway begins at the end of the sealed road at Muriwai Beach. It takes about 10 minutes to reach the cliff edge viewpoints overlooking the gannet colony. From there, you can continue for another 5 minutes to cross Otakamiro Point and reach Maukatia Bay. Along the route, you'll encounter breathtaking views of the beaches and the gannet colony. Additionally, a sea cave is accessible shortly after the start of the walk, but only at low tide.

How to Get There

To reach the Muriwai Walkway, head to the south end of Muriwai Beach. The walkway starts where the sealed section of the road ends. This location is easily accessible by car, and parking is available nearby. Once there, you can enjoy the scenic walk and explore the natural beauty of the area.
