How to Get There
To reach Hapuka Estuary from Wānaka, take State Highway 6 to Haast, then head south on Haast Jackson Bay Road. The estuary is approximately 14 km from Haast. You cross the bridge over the Okuru River, then a second bridge over the Turnbull River, and the walk is on your left, with a car park. You can also wander more widely along the river banks and the edge of the Okuru River mouth.
