Discovering Ōrākei Marina in Auckland

Ōrākei Marina is situated between Hobson Bay and Ōkahu Bay along Tamaki Drive in Auckland. This modern marina, constructed in the mid-2000s as part of the development of the Ōrākei waterfront, provides modern boating facilities in a sheltered harbour location.

Exploring the Marina and Surroundings

As you make your way to the marina from Hobson Bay, you'll pass beneath the cliffs of Hobson Point. The path and road are lined with pōhutukawa trees, which are particularly striking when they bloom in December. The entrance to the marina is on the left, where you can stroll along the sea barrier that shelters the marina's berths. This walk is a pleasant extension to the route past the Outdoor Boating Club marina in Hobson Bay.

Facilities and Amenities

The marina offers a comprehensive range of facilities for both boaters and visitors. Boat berths and marine services are available for vessel owners. There is a large boat ramp and a public walkway around the marina sea barrier that connects to the waterfront paths.

The marina’s sea barrier provides stunning views across the Waitematā Harbour, stretching towards Devonport and Downtown Auckland. At the far end of the barrier, a lighthouse enhances the harbour scenery, making it a perfect spot for photography.

How to Get There
