Exploring the Beach and Harbour

Whangamatā Harbour is both scenic and extensive, providing a safe environment for swimming away from the main beach. It's an ideal spot for leisurely walks, and the small wharf is a favourite for those looking to dive into the water or embark on boat tours around the bay.
Whangamatā also has a bustling commercial centre with a variety of accommodation options, as well as numerous cafes and restaurants to suit different tastes. The town is also famous for hosting the annual Beach Hop festival in March, a lively celebration of rock and roll and classic cars that transforms the main road into a showcase of vintage vehicles.
