Devil Boots is a curious spot located near Collingwood in Golden Bay, South Island. This area has two rock formations that resemble upside-down boots! The formations are situated along Devils Boots Road.
Discovering the Rock Formations
The rock formations known as Devil Boots are found about halfway along the narrow gravel Devil Boots Road in the Aorere Valley. These two similar structures stand on either side of the road, capturing the imagination with their upside-down boot-like appearance. The road itself runs parallel to the Aorere River, which can be quite high at times, adding to the dramatic landscape.
How to Get There
To reach Devil Boots, from Collingwood, take Collingwood Quay to Collingwood-Bainham Main Road. Follow this road along the Aorere Valley to the tiny settlement of Rockville. There, continue south on Devils Boots Road. This road ends at the access point for the Goldfields Track. From Collingwood, Devils Boots is a drive of 11 km and takes 13 minutes.
