Exploring Rothesay Bay
Rothesay Bay is a charming suburb and beach located on the North Shore of Auckland, between Murrays Bay to the south and Browns Bay to the north. This modest yet appealing beach is part of the northeast coast of the Hauraki Gulf, with calm waters and safe swimming conditions. The sand here is a striking mix of orange and gold, typical of the area's beaches.
Accessing Rothesay Bay
You can reach Rothesay Bay beach via Rothesay Bay Road, which leads through a reserve. Alternatively, for a more scenic approach, take the North Shore Coastal Walk, also a section of Te Araroa, from Murrays Bay. This route takes you along the coast below the cliffs, with spectacular views of the coastal landscape.
How to Get There
From Downtown Auckland, drive north on the northern motorway, then take the exit for Oteha Valley Road. Follow this road to East Coast Road, then turn onto Rothesay Bay Road, which will lead you directly to the beach.
Other places to explore nearby include Tipau Point and Torbay to the north and Tatarata Point and Mairangi Bay to the south.
