Palm Beach on Waiheke Island
Palm Beach is a scenic, north-facing beach located within Mawhitipana Bay on Waiheke Island. This beach, along with its adjacent suburb, has been a popular destination since the late 1800s, attracting day-trippers from Auckland. The beach was named after the Phoenix palms planted during the first housing development in 1922.
Exploring the Beach
Stretching approximately 600 metres, the larger eastern section of the beach is connected to reserves, which provide access. A cluster of rocks also separates a smaller western section. This area, known as Little Palm, is occasionally frequented by nudists. The beach is flanked by cliffs and steep hills at both ends, providing a dramatic backdrop.
