Exploring Te Haruhi Bay

Te Haruhi Bay is located on the southern side of Shakespear Regional Park, and is a picturesque crescent-shaped beach backed by a grassy area dotted with pōhutukawa trees. This bay is a popular destination, especially in Summer, providing a safe swimming environment typical of beaches in the inner Hauraki Gulf. Additionally, camping is available, and bookings can be made through the Auckland Council website.

Activities and Features

The bay's expansive grassed area is perfect for picnics and relaxation, while the beach itself invites you to enjoy a swim in its calm waters. To explore further, shared tracks connect the bay to the Heritage Track on the ridge above the bay and to the Tiritiri Track, which follows the east coast of the park, offering scenic views of the surrounding landscape.

How to get there

To reach Te Haruhi Bay from Downtown Auckland, take the northern motorway to the Silverdale off-ramp. Follow the Twin Coast Discovery Highway east through Silverdale to Whangaparaoa Road, and follow this to Shakespear Regional Park. Turn right onto the road leading to the bay just before the Heritage Track car park. At the end of this road, you will find a large parking area.

Nearby places on the peninsula include Army Bay, Big Manly Beach, Stanmore Bay and Red Beach.
